AfricaPress-Tanzania: President Hussein Mwinyi has announced the death of the First Vice President of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar, Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad.
Addressing the nation on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Dr Mwinyi said the prominent politician passed away at around 11:26 in Muhimbili National Hospital, Dar es Salaam, where he was receiving treatments.
According to Dr Mwinyi, Maalim Seif was admitted at the hospital on February 9, this year.
On behalf of the citizens, the President sent a message of condolence to the family, relatives and ACT-Wazalendo party as well as the general public over the demise of Maalim.
He said more information regarding the death will be provided by his government in cooperation with the family.
However, President Mwinyi has declared seven days of national mourning in honour of the late Maalim Seif.
