AfricaPress-Tanzania: FOOTWORK actions in the Mainland Premier League continues with two hosting venues set to be on fire today as four teams battle it up for maximum three points to keep pace of the contest.
Coastal Union will be at home Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga hosting Azam who seem to have woke up from a slumber and are ready to fight for the championship.
Another explosive encounter is set at Kaitaba Stadium where Kagera Sugar entertain Gwambina FC with both sides desperately hunting vital three points to scale up on the league ladders.
The actions continues tomorrow when Tanzania Prisons will be at their base Nelson Mandela Stadium in Sumbawanga welcoming KMC while Ruvu Shooting will stay put at Mabatini Stadium facing bottom placed side Ihefu FC.
On Saturday, another two matches will unfold with Mwadui hosting Biashara United whereas Mbeya City will face the current league leaders Young Africans at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
For Azam, the 2-2 draw they stamped against defending champions Simba at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city has given them a breathing space believing that they can still give challenge as far as the title race is known.
They displayed mature football in the second half of the match to score two goals thereby forcing Simba to level the scoreboard and they hope to divert the same energy in today’s match.
“We are still in the contest for championship. There are many games to be played in the league as such, until now, no team has been guaranteed to win the silverware hence, anything can happen in this marathon,” said Azam’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdulkarim Amin ‘Popat’ recently.
Also, the club’s Information Officer Thabit Zakaria narrated that his side has lately transformed a lot such that he is hopeful to outclass Coastal Union.
“As the league goes on, we are also becoming a better team. I know that Coastal Union have always been giving us tough time at their home but, this is a new moment for us to prove our maturity,” he said.
For Coastal Union, they too desperately demand to win this game basing on the standings of the table as they sit 14th with 20 points meaning that any further drop of essential three points will see them going down the ladders.
It will therefore be the duty of Head Coach Juma Mgunda to make sure that he has assembled trained soldiers to ambush Azam and collect crucial points from home territory
