AfricaPress-Tanzania: AFTER progressing into the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC), finals, Namungo FC remain confident that they will win the title to represent the country in CAF Confederation Cup next season.

The Ruangwa based club booted out Sahare All Stars 1-0 in the first semifinals match held at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga over the weekend for the first time in the club’s history.

It was the end of the road for Sahare All Stars who fought hard to reach into the semi final stage and was the only First Division League (FDL) side to go that far.

But, in his immediate reaction, Namungo Head Coach, Thierry Hitimana was full of praise of his team saying it was not easy to clear their opponents’ hurdle.

“The good thing for us is that we have managed to reach into the finals but now, we need to focus much in the top flight league so as to maintain our mission of finishing the marathon on top four,” he said.

He added that it was a fifty-fifty affair saying there is no small match in football especially when playing in knock out tournaments.

“Our opponents were relaxed and approached the game without any pressure at all and instead, pressure was on our side as we desperately needed to win to go to the finals.

“Most people predicted that we will reach into the finals but we had to overcome the main obstacle on the pitch which was tough and not through just imaginations,” said he.

He then gave kudos to Sahare All Stars for their massive performance on the day saying they played much better and were not an easy side to beat.

On his part, Sahare All Stars coach Kessy Abdallah said it was not their luck day as they too wanted to play in the finals of the competition.

“We committed one mistake of which our opponents used well to pump in one goal but that is what football is all about.

We have managed to gain experience such that next time, we will not be strangers at all,” he said.

However, next season, Sahare All Stars will trade in the Second Division League (SDL) as they were relegated in the FDL hence they will start again from the scratch.
