AfricaPress-Tanzania: The Tanzania National Team ‘Taifa Stars’ left yesterday for Nairobi in Kenya to play two international friendly matches against the country’s national team, ‘Harambee Stars’.
The Taifa Stars who entered the camp on March 8 and practiced at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam under coach Kim Poulsen have left with the coach saying he will use the games to find out the team’s weaknesses.
Speaking after his departure, Kim Poulsen said in tomorrow’s match on March 18 he will focus more on attacking and defensive tactics to keep the right balance towards qualifying matches.
“We are leaving with all 23 players because I expect to use them in the first game against Kenya which will be played tomorrow (tomorrow) and a group of other players will play the game on March 18,” said Kim.
He said Simba players and others who have not reported to the camp will come directly to Kenya to join the team for the upcoming matches.
Taifa Stars will use the games to qualify for the African Nations Cup (AFCON 2021) against Equatorial Guinea which will be played away on March 25 and against Libya, March 30 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
The National Stars are in Group J with four points. Tunisia are leading with 10 points, Equatorial Guinea are in second place with six points and Libya are trailing with three points.
