VPL RETURN TURNS TALL ORDER FOR IHEFU

AfricaPress-Tanzania: DESPITE carrying all the 18 teams in the Premier League on their shoulders, Ihefu FC remain hopeful that they can make a crucial turnaround during the second phase of the contest.

The Mbarali-based outfits who climbed into the top flight league this season sit at the bottom of the table with 13 points from 18 matches, winning only three games and stamping four draws.

They surely need nothing but maximum three points in most of their remaining league duels to avoid a nose dive into the First Division League (FDL) where the splint to earn promotion is tough.

“What we desperately need now is to have winning consistence in the upcoming league matches and every coach would like to achieve that. “I am thankful that with the good cooperation from the management, we have succeeded to sign a couple of players we thought would help to take us to the level we want when the competition resumes. “I, together with my colleagues at the technical bench, keenly looked at the areas where we wanted reinforcement and I am pleased that to a large extent, we have gained players we wanted,” said the team’s Head Coach Zuberi Katwila recently.

Moreover, the former Mtibwa Sugar trainer pointed out that their lately friendly match against Tanzania Prisons helped to give him confidence that his squad is now ripe to face any team.

“I can see a promising future with the current players we have in the team and the only big thing is for all of us to continue working as a team,” said him.

Besides Ihefu, other teams which remain glued to the red zone at the base of the table with their points in bracket are Mbeya City (14), Mwadui FC (15) and Namungo (18).

The only guarantee they can have to stay put in the league next season is to win as many matches as possible or else, the relegation door is ajar to let go of underperforming teams in the league.
