Africa-Press – Uganda. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) electoral tribunal has officially upheld the results of the Kiruhura District Woman MP party primaries, confirming Ruth Rujoki Mushabe as the duly elected NRM flagbearer.
This ruling dismissed a petition by her main rival, Jovanice Twinobusingye, who had challenged the fairness of the election.
Mushabe won the primaries with a clear lead of 3,552 votes, securing majority support in 8 of the 12 sub-counties in Nyabushozi and 1 of the 2 sub-counties in Kashongi.
The tribunal’s decision finalises the party’s candidate for the upcoming general elections, putting to rest challenges to the primary’s legitimacy.
