Faith Leaders Call Nation to Prayer Ahead of 2026 Elections

Africa-Press – Uganda. At a time when Uganda edges closer to a politically charged election season, Pneuma Word Ministries International has announced plans for a nationwide Cross Over Night of prayer, set for December,31, 2025 under the theme “A Night for the Nation, A Night for the Family.”

The announcement came during a press briefing at Eureka Place Hotel, attended by senior pastors of the ministry on behalf of their leader, Prophet Brian Kagyezi.

Speaking to journalists, Pastor Martin Sagala described the gathering as more than a religious tradition — calling it a sacred national mandate to seek peace for Uganda in a year that will culminate in the 2026 general elections.

“Lasting peace is not simply negotiated at tables but birthed in prayer,” Sagala said, quoting the Biblical command to “seek peace and pursue it.”

He framed the night as a rallying point for unity, worship, and intercession — not only for political stability but also for the healing of the nation’s divisions.

Uganda, he noted, has endured seasons marred by unrest and bloodshed.

This year’s event, he declared, would be a collective cry for “enough is enough” — a call for healing and divine intervention before, during, and after the electoral process.

A Call for Families

While the political climate is one focus, Sagala emphasized that the night will also center on the family — “the cornerstone of any thriving nation.”

The gathering, he said, will be an opportunity for parents, couples, and children to dedicate their futures to God.

Prophet Kagyezi, known for his prophetic ministry, will lead the event, offering prayer for the sick, personal counsel, and messages he believes can shape both spiritual and economic destinies.

“National economies can be shaped by the voice of a prophet,” Sagala told the press. “Where leaders embrace prophetic counsel, economies recover and thrive. Prophets don’t just speak in tongues — they give economic blueprints.”

Logistics and Scale

The Cross Over Night will be hosted at Pneuma Miracle Grounds in Kyanja, with the ministry projecting a record-breaking 10,000+ attendees under the open night sky.

International delegations from East Africa, West Africa, the United States, Europe, and Asia are also expected.

To accommodate the turnout, Pastor Joanita Kakala announced free nationwide transport, including more than 25 pickup points in Kampala and buses from major towns across Uganda.

When asked why the event was reserved for year’s end, Pastor Belabela Moses Akita clarified that the ministry has been praying consistently but views the crossover as a unifying moment for the entire body of Christ across districts and nations.

“Too many voices are speaking today, but few offer clarity,” Belabela said. “This is a chance to hear what God is saying for 2026 — directly from the prophetic voice.”

Security Preparations

Acknowledging safety concerns around large gatherings, ministry leaders assured the public that a fully fledged security plan is in place.

They confirmed collaboration with the Uganda Police Force to ensure the event remains a “safe zone for everyone to worship.”

Prophet Brian Kagyezi, whose influence extends from Kampala’s suburbs to a global audience, has in recent years gained a reputation for charismatic preaching and vivid demonstrations of prophetic ministry.

Followers say his events often leave attendees with renewed faith and a sense of divine direction.

As Uganda approaches a pivotal political season, the December, 31, gathering will stand as both a spiritual milestone and a symbolic reminder of the role faith communities continue to play in shaping national discourse.
