Africa-Press – Uganda. The 2026 edition of the Business Excellence Awards has been officially launched in Kampala, with a renewed focus on celebrating excellence and rewarding innovation among Uganda’s leading businesses.
The launch took place on Wednesday at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel under the theme “Celebrating excellence, inspiring innovation.”
Speaking at the event, the Chief of Operations at Consumer Publications Uganda Limited, Agnes Alowo, said this year’s awards will go beyond recognising performance to actively promote innovation and continuous improvement across industries.
“We shall celebrate excellence and inspire innovation. It is no longer just business that defines excellence, but customers. The companies that deliver value are the ones that lead.”
She emphasised that the awards are designed to promote a culture of merit, accountability and continuous improvement within Uganda’s business environment.
“This year’s theme is both recognition and challenge. Recognition of businesses delivering exceptional value and a challenge to organisations to raise the bar.”
Alowo explained that the awards are performance-based and focused on identifying brands that consistently deliver quality, value and impact to customers.
“We are a consumer-driven and research-backed platform. The awards evaluate performance, innovation, sustainability and customer excellence.”
“These awards are important as they encourage businesses to compete on quality not just price, strengthening the overall Ugandan business reputation. This ensures businesses transform from private excellence to country standards.”
She noted that the selection process begins with nominations from companies and the public, followed by shortlisting, detailed research and evaluation by a professional team, before final winners are selected and honoured at the gala ceremony set for August, 14 at Sheraton Hotel Kampala.
According to organisers, the awards are intended to encourage businesses to compete on quality rather than price alone, ultimately strengthening Uganda’s overall business reputation.
They also aim to establish industry benchmarks that elevate standards across sectors, while promoting transparency, accountability and sustainable growth.
Alowo further said the awards recognise companies and individuals who go the extra mile in service delivery, professionalism and integrity.
The Consumer Business Awards platform, she added, is dedicated to identifying and promoting businesses that demonstrate excellence in customer service and responsible business practices.
By spotlighting innovation and customer value, the 2026 Business Excellence Awards are expected to reinforce a culture where Ugandan companies strive not only for profit, but for lasting impact and national development.
