Accountants Urged to Uphold Integrity Ahead of ASA 2025

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has called on accountants to maintain integrity, excellence, and service, ahead of the 2025 Accountancy Service Awards (ASA), which will be held as a stand-alone event for the first time.

The ASA, scheduled for October 3, recognises individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of accountancy in Uganda and beyond.

Since 2015, the awards have fostered professional growth, ethical standards, career opportunities, and strengthened trust with clients and employers.

Sandra Batte, Chair of the ASA Committee, emphasized consistency, continuous learning, mentorship, and teamwork as key to success.

“You always have to show up consistently. Don’t hide behind others. Keep learning, because the tax code never sleeps,” she said. Batte stressed that the awards are recognition of ongoing effort rather than an endpoint.

Lydia Tumusiime, ICPAU Manager of Business Development, highlighted the awards’ role in enhancing professional credibility and global competitiveness.

“Organizations associated with award winners enjoy an enhanced reputation that strengthens their standing locally and internationally,” she noted.

This year’s categories include Gold Service Award, CPA of the Year, Young Accountant of the Year, Woman Accountant of the Year, Finance Team of the Year, Accounting Firm of the Year, Institutional Partner of the Year, and Unique Humanitarian Award.

Past winners in 2024 included CPA Mary Theresa Kiggundu, CPA Joseph Osako, CPA Keto Kayemba, Pastor Gary Skinner, the Uganda National Oil Company, and CPA Uganda – Ankole Region.

The 2025 ASA winners will be unveiled at the October 3 ceremony, continuing to set the benchmark for excellence, integrity, and service in Uganda’s accountancy profession.
