Africa-Press – Uganda. Buwekula Ssaza registered its first win of the 2025 Masaza Cup season in dominant fashion, defeating Bulemeezi 3-0 at the NTC Playground on Sunday.

The home crowd erupted as striker Jimmy Kalema netted twice, with Jonathan Luyonde adding a third goal to seal the result.

Coach Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza made several changes to the starting lineup, a gamble that paid off as Buwekula controlled the game from the opening whistle.

Kalema opened the scoring in the first half and returned after the break to notch his second, earning the Man of the Match accolade.

“Today I am very happy for our first win,” Kalema said.

“I want to assure all Buwekula fans that we will do everything possible to emerge as champions this season. Our teamwork was key today.”

Assistant Coach Davis Nnono Ssozi echoed Kalema’s optimism but cautioned supporters against pressuring the technical bench.

“If we reduce the pressure, our team will perform even better,” said Ssozi. “We’re now focusing on our next match against Kyadondo, and I’m confident we’ll keep winning.”

Team Manager Hajji Rajab Ssebulime promised a turnaround in form and declared that Buwekula was now on a winning trajectory.

“This was the boost we needed. It’s our first win this year, and we have now taken off. There’s no turning back,” Ssebulime told fans after the match.

Buwekula Ssaza Chief, Luwekula Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, also praised the supporters for creating a strong home atmosphere.

“Today we achieved victory at our home ground, and I thank all the fans for their love and support. Let’s maintain this spirit,” he said.

But while the mood in the Buwekula camp was jubilant, chaos brewed on the other side of the pitch.

Bulemeezi Head Coach Isaac Ntege faced the wrath of furious supporters who confronted him after the loss, accusing him of team mismanagement and failing to resolve player payment issues.

“We want the coach to resign,” shouted one fan. “We have good players, but they are not given a chance, yet we pay our money to support this team!”

Security personnel were forced to intervene as the situation escalated near the team bus.

Buwekula is scheduled to face Kyadondo this Saturday at Ham Stadium in what could be a turning point for their campaign. Bulemeezi, on the other hand, will be under pressure to recover amid growing internal turmoil.
