Africa-Press – Uganda. Deputy Inspector General of Government (IGG),Patricia Achan Okiria, has been hailed for balancing her demanding role in the anti-corruption fight with family responsibilities, as she celebrated her 50th birthday.

At a celebration held at her residence, family members, senior government officials, and students from Ugandan universities praised Dr. Achan for her mentorship and professional integrity.

Her husband, Mr. Okiria, delivered one of the most personal tributes, noting how she manages to separate her public role from her private life.

“She leaves her work title at the door and becomes a devoted wife and a steady hand in our home,” he said.

Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, who presented her with a Bible, emphasised the importance of maintaining moral strength in public service.

“The fight against corruption requires both righteous and professional commitment,” he remarked.

Inspector General of Government Beti Kamya described her deputy’s dedication as “unwavering,” while Deputy IGG Anne Twinomugisha Muhairwe called her “a pillar” of the institution.

Students also highlighted her influence as a mentor. Natasha, a representative, said, “Her advice on living and studying with integrity has been invaluable.”

The celebration marked not only a personal milestone but also public recognition of Dr. Achan’s ability to combine family life with national duty, underscoring the human side of leadership in Uganda’s fight against corruption.
