Emyooga Beneficiaries Launch Mobilisation Committees

Africa-Press – Uganda. Members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) operating under the Greater Mpigi Emyooga Missionaries platform have launched new grassroots mobilisation committees aimed at strengthening party structures and rallying support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The initiative comes as Mityana District prepares to host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is expected to visit the area today.

Speaking during the launch, John Ssenabulya, the Chairperson of the Greater Mpigi Emyooga Missionaries, said the group has established 10-member mobilisation committees in each of the four constituencies of Mityana District.

The committees will be responsible for identifying, coordinating and nurturing support for NRM flag bearers at all levels, including the presidential race.

“These committees are meant to strengthen our grassroots networks. They will mobilise communities, organise party activities, and ensure that NRM supporters are fully prepared ahead of the President’s visit and the 2026 elections,” Ssenabulya noted.

He explained that the mobilisation drive is being spearheaded by beneficiaries of the Emyooga initiative, a government programme aimed at boosting household incomes through community-based savings and enterprise development.

“As Emyooga beneficiaries and NRM cadres, we feel obligated to give back. President Museveni supported us through the Emyooga programme, which has transformed our livelihoods. Mobilising votes for him is one way of appreciating that support,” Ssenabulya added.

The Greater Mpigi Emyooga Missionaries bring together members from Mityana, Mpigi, Gomba and Butambala districts, forming a regional mobilisation platform that cuts across several constituencies. Leaders say the newly formed committees will serve as coordination hubs, linking village-level supporters to district and regional party structures.

According to Ssenabulya, the committees will also focus on voter sensitisation, strengthening party unity, and avoiding internal divisions that have previously weakened the ruling party’s performance in some areas.

The mobilisation drive coincides with renewed optimism among Emyooga beneficiaries following a pledge by the Microfinance Support Centre to inject an additional Shs20 million into each Emyooga SACCO. Leaders say the funding is expected to boost productivity and expand income-generating activities among members.

“This additional funding will go a long way in strengthening our businesses. It also reinforces why we must remain united and supportive of the NRM leadership that continues to prioritise grassroots economic empowerment,” Kutusa Lukia Emyooga leader noted.

As political activity intensifies in Mityana ahead of the President’s visit, NRM leaders say early mobilisation, strong grassroots structures and economic empowerment programmes like Emyooga will be key pillars in consolidating support for the ruling party in the 2026 elections.
