Fibre Cut Disrupts Mbarara Immigration Services

Africa-Press – Uganda. Services at the National Citizenship and Immigration Control (NCIC) Regional Office in Mbarara have been temporarily disrupted following a fibre cut that affected internet connectivity. The outage has impacted key immigration operations, including passport and visa processing.

In a public notice issued on February 10, 2026, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said passport applicants are currently unable to proceed with personalization and interviews.

The processing of resident facilities such as work permits, student passes, and other documentation has also been affected.

Applicants who were scheduled for personalization on Tuesday will instead be attended to on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, as authorities work to restore normal operations.

The ministry assured the public that efforts are underway to resolve the issue in coordination with relevant partners and apologized for the inconvenience, urging patience and understanding.

Members of the public are encouraged to use official communication channels for updates and guidance.
