Africa-Press – Uganda. Outgoing Umukukha Bob Mushikori, the Bamasaba cultural leader is dead.
Mushikori reportedly passed away on Monday afternoon at his residence in Senior Quarters in Mbale Town.
Emma Bwayo the state minister for cooperatives, production, and marketing in Inzu ya Masaba confirmed Mushikori’s passing to New Vision.
Mushikori was in November succeeded by Jude Mike Mudoma who was elected by the general assembly in October and cleared by a council of elders made up of the founders of Bamasaba Cultural Institution, bringing an end to long-standing wrangles.
Unlike other tribes where leadership is hereditary, in Bugisu the position of the cultural head which was first occupied in 2010 is chosen from the over 50 clans.
Mushikori’s five-year term came to an end last year.
