Africa-Press – Uganda. The Education Service Commission (ESC) yesterday advertised 13 top jobs and urged Ugandans who meet the required qualifications to apply for them before February 19.
The advertised jobs include commissioner (four slots), assistant commissioner (three) and principal education officer (two). The others are principal inspector for education standards, senior inspector for education standards and senior education officer for vocational education, which all have one slot each.
Also advertised is the job of deputy principal of the Uganda Petroleum Institute (UPIK) Kagumba.
To be eligible for commissioner’s job, one must possess a Master’s Degree in Education from a recognised university, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, should be registered with the Ministry of Education and should have at least 12 years’ work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of assistant commissioner in the field of teacher instructor education and training.
According to the ESC website, applicants for the assistant commissioner slots should possess a Master’s Degree in Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, should also be registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports, and should have at least nine years’ work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of principal education officer in secondary education.
Requirements
For one to qualify for deputy principal UPIK, he or she should have a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering or Petroleum Geoscience or Chemical Engineering or Refinery or Pipeline Engineering.
They should also have Bachelor’s Degree in either Petroleum Engineering and should have at least nine years of relevant work experience three which should have been at the middle level management in a busy and well organised institution.
For one to be eligible for the position of principal education officer, he or she should have a Bachelors’ Degree in Education or any bachelor’s degree with a Post Graduate Diploma in Education, Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring and Evaluation, Master’s Degree in Business management and should be registered as a teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
He or she should also have a minimum of three years’ work experience at the level of senior education officer.
Meanwhile, Makerere University has also advertised a number of jobs for lecturers and assistant lecturers in various colleges.
