Africa-Press – Uganda. Hoima district local government has commissioned completed projects worth 632 million shillings in a bid to extend education services to local people.
The projects which were commissioned the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Micheal Kyakashari Muramira and the district political and technical leadership include; the shs 133.8 million chain link fence at Kigorobya seed secondary school, the shs 119 million Two-classroom block and shs 131 Million pit latrine of five stances at Iguru 1 primary school in Bombo sub county and the renovation of the a two-classroom block at shs 79 million and a shs 28 million borehole at Haibale primary school in Kisukuma sub county.
Other projects include the shs 114 million two-classroom block and a shs 27 Million borehole at Kibengeya primary school in Kapapi sub county.
While speaking to local leaders and school management at Kigorobya seed school, Deputy RDC Kyakashari urged police and other security agencies to investigate and swiftly prosecute all suspects behind the vandalism of the school property and other key installations.
He said that the construction of the chain link fence around the school will help keep security of the property and protect the lives of students and staff.
‘‘I urge the school management to increase security vigilance and also take security guards for training. Police should have all suspects arrested and prosecuted for vandalizing school property’’ said Kyakashari.
The school headteacher Saul Mubanda Muyigwa said that the school has grown from having only senior three to advanced level.
With an enrollment of 612 students, Mubanda said there is a need for more classroom blocks to cater for the increasing enrollment.
The Chief Administrative officer for Hoima Emmanuel Sempala urged parents to use the existing infrastructure and enroll their children in the school.
At Iguru 1 primary school, the Vice LCV Chairperson Hellen Mulumba warned parents against school dropout.
‘‘Parents should do their cardinal duty of ensuring that their children are at school and should provide them with support more especially food, uniform and other scholastic materials’’ said Mulumba who represented the LCV Chairman Uthuman Mugisha Kadiri at the commissioning function.
Sudath Mbabazi the Iguru 1 school headteacher said the completion of the two classroom blocks has brought a great relief because of the congestion of pupils in classes.
With over 890 pupils, the school welcomed the projects with hope of improving enrollment and academic performance.
Deputy RDC Kyakashari emphasized the need for continuous support to the NRM government leadership because of its steady and sustainable provision of services to local people.
He urged all project beneficiaries to guard them enviously for sustainable use.
