ICPAU Unveils New Governing Council for 2025–2027

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) has announced a new 12-member council that will steer the institute for the 2025–2027 term, in line with Section 8 of the Accountants Act.

CPA Timothy David Ediomu, a partner at Ediomu and Company, will serve as Council President, while CPA Alfred Beitwababo Kabuchu, partner at Biz & Co., will serve as Vice President.

The new council includes prominent figures from both the private and public sectors. These are CPA Dr. Albert Otete, a partner at J. Samuel Richards & Associates; CPA Christine Mugume, a partner at CMK & Co.; and CPA Nancy Amuge Owino, the Finance Manager at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

Also on the council are CPA Sandra Nakibuule Batte, Associate Director for Markets and Business Development at Ernst & Young; CPA Annet Nantumbwe, a partner at Hill & Associates; and CPA Dr. Fixon Akonya Okonye, the Internal Auditor General of Uganda.

Others include CPA Stephen Ojiambo, Commissioner for Accounts in charge of Inspections, Policy, and Capacity Building at the Ministry of Finance; CPA James Bantu, Assistant Auditor General for Audit at the Office of the Auditor General; and CPA Derick Nkajja, the Secretary and CEO of ICPAU.

One seat, representing the Ministry of Education and Sports, remains vacant.

ICPAU expressed gratitude to the outgoing council for their service and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professional standards and ethics in Uganda’s accountancy sector.

The Council is supported by several specialised committees, including the Public Accountants Examinations Board, Quality Assurance Board, Disciplinary Committee, and others.

Established in 1992, ICPAU is mandated to regulate the accounting profession in Uganda and is a member of both the Pan African Federation of Accountants and the International Federation of Accountants.
