Africa-Press – Uganda. In an inspiring display of mentorship, distinguished Rotary leader and prominent business executive Jimmy D. Mugerwa captivated attendees at last weekend’s joint installation ceremony for the Rotaract Clubs of Rubaga, Bukoto, and Kyambogo.

The accomplished leader, who serves as Board Chairperson of Uganda Breweries Limited and DFCU Bank while holding the diplomatic post of Norway’s Honorary Consul to Uganda, delivered a powerful address that resonated deeply with the newly inducted executives.

As Charter President of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf Rotary Club and Guest of Honour, Jimmy elevated the ceremonial event into a transformative experience.

“It was a great honor to be the Chief Guest at the joint Presidential Installations of three Rotaractor Clubs of Kyambogo, Rubaga, and Bukoto,” Mugerwa reflected.

“Interacting with these Rotaractors who have so much passion, exuberance, and belief in service to humanity is quite fulfilling.”

With the wisdom of a seasoned leader, Jimmy framed the leadership transition as a sacred passing of the torch.

“In Rotary, continuity is a core value,” he emphasized.

“You aren’t simply taking over positions – you’re inheriting a legacy and have the responsibility to build upon it.”

His words underscored Rotary’s enduring mission while challenging the new leaders to view their terms as connected chapters in a greater story of service.

Jimmy’s address took a profoundly personal turn as he shared his philosophy of leadership development.

“The focus of my address is self-leadership,” he explained, revealing it as the foundation for all meaningful leadership.

“You cannot give what you don’t have, and you cannot lead where you haven’t been.”

These insights, drawn from his distinguished career in both business and diplomacy, carried particular weight as he described his daily practices of reflection and continuous learning.

The highlight of Mugerwa’s address came with the introduction of his innovative “Five Buckets of Potential” framework.

“I discuss the importance of filling the five buckets of life – knowledge, skill, network, resources, and reputation,” he said, outlining a comprehensive approach to professional development.

His practical advice to focus first on knowledge and skills struck a chord: “At this stage in your life, the focus should be to fill the knowledge and skills buckets. The fullness of these buckets will determine how big, believable, and achievable their dreams become.”

In conclusion, Jimmy made a personal commitment to the Rotaract clubs: “True leadership is measured in lives changed, not titles held.”

This powerful statement met with a spontaneous standing ovation, clearly impacted the new executives, many of whom described the address as exactly the guidance they needed as they embarked on their service journeys.

The ceremony closed with Mugerwa’s stirring final charge: “The future of Rotary is now in your hands. Light the way boldly.”

His words left no doubt that the Rubaga, Bukoto, and Kyambogo clubs had received more than ceremonial recognition – they had gained a substantive foundation for transformative leadership from one of Uganda’s most respected figures in business, diplomacy, and service.
