Africa-Press – Uganda. In a landmark effort to revolutionise water management and promote sustainable urban landscapes, the inaugural Green Drops Summit was successfully hosted by Sprinktech, Uganda’s leading provider of water pumping, irrigation, and solar energy solutions.
Held under the powerful theme “Smart Irrigation, Water Tech, and Greener Spaces,” the summit brought together a wide array of stakeholders to address the country’s urgent challenges of water scarcity, climate change, and the need for resilient urban infrastructure.
The event convened high-level representatives from the Ministry of Water and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), the private sector, non-governmental organisations, urban planners, engineers, landscape architects, academia, and local farmers.
The summit provided a collaborative platform to showcase and discuss innovative technologies such as automated smart irrigation systems and solar-powered water solutions that can transform how Uganda conserves and utilises water.
A highlight of the summit was the presentation by Sprinktech CEO Javan Mukundane, who demonstrated the effectiveness of automated irrigation systems that enable users to remotely control and monitor water distribution via smartphone or email.
His message underscored the urgent need for modernised solutions that are both efficient and accessible.
Fadi Abu Azeh, representing Rain Bird a global leader in irrigation systems and a strategic partner of Sprinktech stressed the vital role smart irrigation can play in mitigating water scarcity and boosting agricultural productivity.
Local voices added depth to the discussion. Kezaala Eric Damba, a renowned farm planner, and Phillip Tumuramye, an irrigation engineer, showcased the impact of these technologies at the grassroots level, emphasising how smallholder farmers can benefit from precision irrigation to improve yields and reduce waste.
Engineer Aloysius Mubangizi and Architect Pamela Akora also shared insights on how smart water systems can enhance both agricultural efficiency and urban landscape design, contributing to more livable and sustainable cities.
