Africa-Press – Uganda. The Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II, has praised Prince Edward Fredrick Walugembe for his book, Patriotism: A Core Principle to National Development, which promotes patriotism and national unity among Ugandans.
The Kabaka’s message was delivered during the book’s official launch at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Ndeeba.
The message, read by Prince Nakibinge Jjuuko Mulyazaawo on behalf of the Kabaka and signed by his private secretary Douglas Mukiibi, commended Prince Walugembe for his dedication and thorough research.
“I want to thank Prince Edward Fredrick Walugembe for authoring this book, and for the expertise and time you dedicated to researching this important subject. I have no doubt it will inspire many Ugandans to embrace patriotism and love for their country,” read the Kabaka’s message.
The colourful launch event was attended by royals, cultural leaders, and distinguished guests, all gathering to celebrate the book’s release.
The Kabaka also noted that the book serves as part of the amakula (gifts) marking his 70th birthday.
Buganda’s Katikkiro (Prime Minister), Charles Peter Mayiga, also commended Prince Walugembe for his work in fostering national unity and responsibility.
“This book is essential for championing national unity and responsibility. Thank you for your wisdom, and for your dedicated efforts,” Mayiga said.
Former Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Victoria Ssekitooleko, who was present at the launch, encouraged Ugandans, especially the youth, to share positive stories about their country.
She stressed the importance of documenting Uganda’s heritage for the benefit of future generations.
In an exclusive interview, Prince Walugembe revealed that his motivation to write the book came from witnessing the growing disconnection among young people from core national values, particularly as reflected in social media platforms.
He hopes that his book will remind citizens of their duty to preserve Uganda’s identity and dignity. “Many youth today seem disengaged from our national values. Through this book, I hope to reignite a sense of pride, responsibility, and patriotism in every Ugandan,” he shared.
Guests at the event praised the Prince for his insightful contribution, describing the book as both informative and timely.
They urged young people across Uganda to draw inspiration from the author’s example and take an active role in shaping the country’s future.
Patriotism: A Core Principle to National Development stands as both an educational tool and a royal tribute in honor of Kabaka Mutebi’s 70th birthday—a fitting gift for the occasion.
