Africa-Press – Uganda. Winifred Nakandi, the Democratic Front (DF) candidate for Member of Parliament for Nakawa West, has intensified her grassroots campaign, engaging residents across multiple neighborhoods as she seeks to consolidate support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
During her recent campaign trail through Luzira and Mutungo, Nakandi was accompanied by supporters, boda boda riders, and a convoy of vehicles. Supporters carried tree branches, the symbol of the Democratic Front, drawing attention from residents along the route.
At various stopovers, Nakandi engaged directly with voters, listening to their concerns and discussing the challenges facing the constituency.
She urged residents to place their trust in her leadership, highlighting her unique position as the only woman contesting the Nakawa West parliamentary seat against male opponents.
“Trust me and vote for me. Vote for a genuine woman who is ready to work for you on the DF ticket,” Nakandi told residents. “On 15th January 2026, remember me and vote decisively for me.”
The parliamentary hopeful pledged that, if elected, she would prioritize development initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods across Nakawa West, with a focus on poverty reduction, grassroots empowerment, and the advancement of women.
“I will introduce development initiatives that will lift people out of poverty, with special attention to grassroots communities and women,” she said.
Nakandi’s campaign continues to attract vocal support from residents who say they believe in her leadership style and message of unity. Some supporters praised her for promoting peace and inclusiveness throughout her campaign.
“We are ready to vote for Nakandi. We do not know any other candidate we trust,” one supporter said. “We are proud of her and everything she stands for.”
As the race for Nakawa West gains momentum, Nakandi’s campaign highlights broader discussions on women’s representation in politics and the importance of grassroots engagement in shaping electoral outcomes. With months remaining before voters head to the polls, the Democratic Front candidate remains focused on maintaining visibility and connection with constituents across the division.
