Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Sharifah Buzeki has reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to improving healthcare services following a visit to Kisenyi Health Centre IV.

Accompanied by Acting Director for Public Health and Environment Dr Sarah Zalwango, Buzeki toured the facility to assess service delivery and engage with healthcare workers and patients.

“I had meaningful discussions with healthcare workers and patients, gaining valuable insights into both the challenges and progress in service delivery,” Buzeki posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Kisenyi Health Centre IV is one of KCCA’s major health facilities, providing maternal healthcare, immunisation, emergency services, and treatment for infectious diseases.

KCCA oversees several such centres across Kampala’s five divisions—Central, Kawempe, Makindye, Nakawa, and Rubaga—offering treatment for common illnesses like malaria, pneumonia, and diarrhoea, as well as managing chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes.

By strengthening healthcare services at the division level, KCCA aims to ease the pressure on Mulago National Referral Hospital, which often struggles with overwhelming patient numbers.

The decentralised approach ensures that residents can access timely medical care without enduring long wait times or travelling long distances.

Despite challenges such as congestion and limited resources, Buzeki assured the public that KCCA remains committed to upgrading health facilities, improving medical supplies, and expanding services to meet the needs of Kampala’s growing population.
