Kigezi Sub-Region Prepares for IGP Football Tournament

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Kigezi sub-region is filled with excitement as the territorial police prepare to launch the Inspector General of Police’s (IGP’s) football tournament this Saturday, December 14, 2024.

The Kabale main stadium will be the battleground where district police teams from across the region will converge to showcase their skills and compete for the top prize.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson, Elly Maate, confirms that the tournament will be officiated by the Kigezi Regional Police Commander (RPC), ACP Saiga Ibrahim.

He adds that the tournament promises to be a thrilling two-day event, with the winning team taking home a coveted trophy and other rewards.

“It’s not just about the competition, it’s also about building bridges and fostering community spirit,” Maate states.

“We invite all members of the public to come one, come all,” Maate adds.

Maate further says that this tournament is as much about community policing as it is about football. He adds that the people of Kigezi are no strangers to football excitement, having recently hosted the 10th Kigezi women’s football tournament.

“This latest event promises to bring even more energy and enthusiasm to the region, as police teams and local communities come together to celebrate the beautiful game,” Maate adds.

It should be noted that this will be the first of its kind for the Kigezi sub-region to host the IGP tournament.
