Africa-Press – Uganda. As the contest for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag in Kibale County heats up, Brig Gen (Rtd) Charles Kisembo has pledged to lead a shift from transactional politics to development-focused leadership, urging voters in Kamwenge District to reject the culture of expecting handouts from politicians.
Speaking at a press briefing from his home in Kahunge Town Council, Kisembo called for a “mindset revolution,” challenging residents to focus on hard work and household income rather than waiting for financial favours from elected leaders.
“It is high time we stopped the culture of begging money from politicians for individual problems. Let us focus on working hard to improve household income,” he said.
Kisembo, a medical doctor and former army officer, said his priorities include improving road infrastructure, upgrading health facilities, and enhancing the quality of education throughout Kibale County.
“My agenda is to ensure that roads are accessible, schools are supported to deliver quality education, and our health facilities are equipped and functional. The wellbeing of the people of Kamwenge is my top priority,” he stated.
He also warned against electoral malpractice, saying any attempts to rig the upcoming party primaries would face firm resistance.
“I want to make it clear that any attempts to rig the elections will be met with resistance. I will inform the relevant security organs to deploy intelligence officers to detect and deal with such criminal acts,” Kisembo declared.
With party primaries drawing near, Kisembo’s clean campaign message and no-nonsense stance on vote rigging have started to resonate with voters seeking credible leadership. He urged residents to support leaders committed to long-term development, not those who rely on cash handouts to win votes.
