Africa-Press – Uganda. The fourth edition of the Tooro Masaza Cup concluded in spectacular fashion on Sunday, with Kyaka County lifting the 2025 Tooro Kingdom Amasaza Cup after a commanding 2-0 victory over Fort Portal City at the packed Kinyananisika Grounds.
In a final witnessed by hundreds of passionate fans and graced by the Omukama of Tooro Kingdom, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, Kyaka County delivered a performance worthy of champions.
Goals from Arafat Baluku in the 20th minute and Fred Tumusiime in the 70th minute sealed the win, crowning Kyaka as champions after three previous final appearances.
Tooro Kingdom’s Sports Minister, Micheal Wandera, lauded the event’s success and the unity it fostered.
“We truly appreciate our players, people, and sponsors for the wonderful and peaceful tournament that has once again brought together all the counties in the Kingdom,” Wandera stated.
In a nod to outstanding individual performances throughout the tournament, Pilsner Lager — one of the tournament’s lead sponsors — presented special accolades to key players.
Francis Anguzu of Kyaka County was named Pilsner Goalkeeper of the Tournament, while the Pilsner Most Valuable Player award went to Malik Yasin of Fort Portal City. Kyaka’s Kisaku Jonathan emerged as the Pilsner Top Scorer of the Tournament.
Speaking during the award ceremony, Pilsner King’s representative Lillian Kansiime reaffirmed the brand’s dedication to supporting grassroots sports.
“We believe in the power of sports to unite communities,” Kansiime said. “We are here to celebrate the heroes — from the players who showcased their talent on the pitch to the fans whose passion has driven this tournament. We are proud to be a key supporter of this celebration of pride.”
The 2025 edition of the Tooro Masaza Cup also marked a historic milestone with the inclusion of a ladies’ netball final for the first time, further cementing the tournament’s role in talent identification, gender inclusion, and cultural preservation.
As Kyaka celebrates their long-awaited triumph, Pilsner King and the Tooro Kingdom honour the spirit of sport and community that has defined this year’s tournament, raising a glass to all who made the event a resounding success.
