Africa-Press – Uganda. Former Minister of Trade and NRM flag bearer for Mawokota North, Amelia Annie Kyambadde, has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the recent NRM primaries in her constituency, despite low voter turnout.

Speaking on Wednesday, Kyambadde said she emerged victorious but acknowledged that many residents were unfamiliar with the process.

“The voter turnout was low because many people didn’t fully understand what NRM primaries are. I believe NRM should do more to help people understand these primaries,” she said.

Kyambadde, who lost her parliamentary seat in 2021, noted a positive shift in public perception toward her, with more constituents expressing appreciation for her past efforts.

“I have noticed a change in how people receive me. They now express gratitude for what I did for them in the years leading up to the 2021 elections,” she said.

Highlighting progress in her constituency, she pointed to improved infrastructure and easier transportation as notable developments since 2021.

“When I look at the changes, I mostly see the development that has taken place. Infrastructure has improved, making transportation easier for everyone,” she added.

Kyambadde also observed renewed enthusiasm for the ruling party despite past allegations of internal conflict.

“NRM has returned to the hearts of the people, and we see many are now eager to join the party, unlike in past years,” she said.

“I always say that approach matters. I have embraced the youth and consistently given them hope.”
