NAKASEKE – Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat says Luwero Triangle deserves more than it has received in terms of development from the National Resistance Movement government.”You have been given a raw deal,” Amuriat said on Saturday. He was addressing his supporters in Nakaseke district, which is a part of the greater Luwero Triangle. The Triangle also comprises of Luwero, Mubende, Kyakwanzi, Mpigi, Kiboga, Mubende and Mityana districts. The region was an important base for the National Resistance Army, a rebel outfit that fought its way to Kampala and captured power in 1986 using guerrilla warfare under President Museveni.Over 500,000 people reportedly died in the war and thousands more lost property.”The blood of your forefathers has gone to waste. Instead of good roads, or jobs all you have received as payback is massive land grabbling. You grew coffee and your economy was booming, but this government has killed all that so you can bow to him,” he said, adding that areas that did not host the war have benefited more than Luwero.”My government will return the wealth of your people and adequately compensate your war veterans.”
