Africa-Press – Uganda. Miracle Centre Cathedral Rubaga has organised a farmers’ market every Saturday where farmers will sell their produce directly to consumers at fair prices.
The cathedral’s lead Pastor Robert Kayanja said it is unfair that farmers who put in a lot of effort to produce their goods get little reward from them, yet businessmen who resell the products earn a lot.
“A layer chicken farmer takes four months looking after the chicken before receiving eggs, which are bought at sh200 each by one who sells them sh500 each. This is the unfairness we want to eliminate,” he said.Pastor Kayanja revealed this while leading the New Year’s Day service at Rubaga the Cathedral in Kampala on January 1st.During the service, he said the church will follow Isaiah 58 as their 2021 lead scripture. The Pastor said businessmen sell food expensively, making it difficult for Christians who would want to help the needy to afford their own and that of the poor. “If food was cheaper than it is, people would have enough money to provide for themselves and save some to donate to the poor,” he explained.
Pastor Kayanja further urged Christians to help feed the poor in order to receive miracles and blessings God has in stock for them.”God is with the poor. The only way we can reach out to him is by extending a helping hand to the needy,” he said. He, however, cautioned them against helping the rebellious who do not want to work, the drunkards, and prostitutes, among others.”Look out for the real poor like the old widows who are suffering with no help like in several slums of the country,” he added. He said God showed him that the Church has to feed more poor people in the country at the beginning of this year, on top of those they are already helping.”Through the noble cause of giving out food, we have restored the hope of many needy people, of which some were not born again. This was an opportunity to preach to them, and many were left saved,” he explained. He proclaimed that God will provide for all his children in all they need in the year 2021.
