Africa-Press – Uganda. With only a few days left before the 2026 campaign season officially closes, Mityana District Woman MP Joyce Bagala Ntwatwa has expressed optimism about her re-election bid, saying the process has been largely successful despite various obstacles on the campaign trail.Bagala, who is seeking a second term in Parliament, noted that her campaign team has worked tirelessly over the past months to reach voters across the entire district.

From remote villages and parish centres to busy trading hubs and town councils, her mobilisation strategy has focused on face-to-face engagement and accountability to the electorate.

“We have gone almost everywhere in Mityana,” Bagala said. “Our message has reached the people, and we have listened to their concerns. I am confident that the voters understand what we have done in the last five years and why we are asking for another mandate.”

She says that her first term had been characterised by strong advocacy for improved service delivery, women’s rights, education, and community development initiatives.

Bagala added that her pledge to the people remains grounded in transparency, unity, and continued progress for Mityana.Despite reporting “a smooth campaign overall,” Bagala acknowledged that she encountered moments of hostility and political intimidation in some areas.

However, she insisted that such challenges had not derailed her agenda.“Like any serious political race, challenges are expected,” she noted.

“But our commitment to serve the people is stronger than any form of intimidation. We have kept our campaign peaceful and focused on issues that matter to the community.

”Her campaign, widely visible across the district, has also received support from local leaders, youth groups, women’s associations, and other grassroots networks who say they believe she has delivered on key promises since 2021.

As the election date draws closer, Bagala says she is relying on the trust and partnership she has built with the people of Mityana.

“The power now lies with the voters,” she said. “We hope they will judge based on our track record and the vision we have laid out for the next five years.

”The 2026 race in Mityana remains competitive, but political observers note that Bagala’s visibility and consistent grassroots engagement have strengthened her position as one of the leading candidates.
