Africa-Press – Uganda. Members of the Electoral Commission of the Democratic Front, together with the party’s top leadership, have nominated aspirants seeking to carry the party flag for various positions in Busoga.
At the same event, they also unveiled new offices at Magwa crescent in Jinja City that will coordinate party activities in the eastern region.
It was a beehive of activity at the Democratic Front offices in Jinja City as the party’s Electoral Commission, in the company of senior party leaders, led by National Chairman Walter Lubega Mukaaku, Vice President incharge of Eastern Uganda Pascal Amuriat among others spent the day nominating aspirants for different positions in Busoga.
Some of the aspirants arrived in colourful processions, accompanied by jubilant supporters celebrating their nominations.
Those nominated included aspirants for parliamentary seats on the DF ticket, mayoral positions, councillorships, and sub-county chairpersonships from various districts in the Busoga subregion.
Notable among the nominees include Shamim Nangobi vying for Member of Parliament Jinja South West Constituency in Jinja City, Ashraf Mugalula for MP Bunya West Constituency in Mayuge District and William Isabirye Aspiring Mayor Jinja City.
The DF National Chairperson, Walter Lubega Mukaaku, revealed that alongside ongoing efforts to mobilize support for the party, preparations are underway to secure flagbearers for all elective positions across the country.
“Opening regional offices is part of the activities we are doing as Democratic Front to bring the party to the common person,” Mukaaku said emphasising the need to identify candidates ahead of 2026 general election
His message was reiterated by the party vice president for Eastern Uganda Pascal Amuriat who revealed they started with a similar exercise in Teso.
“We started our journey to conquer eastern yesterday in Teso subregion, today we are in Busoga the other we shall be in other regions to take the Party to the common person” Amuriat said.
By evening, several leaders had been registered to run under the party’s red symbol, with some of them explaining why they chose to contest on the Democratic Front ticket.
