Africa-Press – Uganda. President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have welcomed Kenyan youth leader Charlene Ruto and her team to discuss investment, regional collaboration, and job creation for young people.

In a statement, Museveni said the meeting focused on “areas of cooperation and shared interest,” emphasizing the importance of investment across Africa.

“I am pleased that she is investing on the continent. Africa must continue to focus on value addition in order to create jobs and retain wealth within our region,” he said.

The President added that the discussions explored ways to strengthen regional collaboration to expand opportunities for the continent’s youth.

Charlene Ruto, daughter of Kenyan President William Ruto, is a prominent youth champion and founder of the SMACHS Foundation (Smart Mechanized Agriculture & Climate Action for Humanity and Sustainability). The non-profit empowers young people through climate-smart farming and agribusiness.

Her initiative focuses on three key pillars: climate action, which promotes reforestation and sustainable energy; food security, which equips youth with mechanized agricultural skills; and youth empowerment, mentoring young leaders through her “30 Things” agenda covering mental health, digital literacy, and financial inclusion.

Through SMACHS, Ruto seeks to transform agriculture into a “cool” and profitable career for Africa’s Generation Z.

Her visit to Uganda signals growing engagement in regional development projects and aligns with broader continental efforts to boost value addition, create employment, and encourage economic integration among East African nations.
