Africa-Press – Uganda. President Museveni is expected to preside as Chief Guest at the centennial birthday celebrations of Moses Stephen Owor, the Kwar Adhola, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, in Tororo District.

The historic celebrations will take place at Elgon View Field in Tororo Municipality starting at 9am under the theme, “Honouring a Century of Dedicated Service, Enduring Strength and Unwavering Community Spirit.”

Heads of cultural institutions from across Uganda and neighboring Kenya, alongside dignitaries and invited guests, are expected to attend the landmark event that marks 100 years since the birth of the revered cultural leader.

As part of the week-long activities, Kwar Adhola will attend a thanksgiving Mass on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at St. Wilbrod Church in Nagongera Parish.

Additional activities will include various sports competitions and medical camps to be conducted in selected areas after the main celebrations.

The Adhola Cultural Institution (TACI), together with the royal family, has expressed gratitude to institutions, companies and individuals who have supported the organization of the centennial celebrations.

Born on February 25, 1926, in Nagongera to the late Mzee Wilbrod Othieno and Norah Nyanganda, daughter of Chief Majanga, Kwar Adhola has had a distinguished career in public service.

He served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Labour before later working with the International Labour Organisation.

He also played a significant role as a church leader of the laity in Kampala. For the past 26 years, he has served as the cultural head of the Jopadhola under TACI.

The centennial celebrations have drawn widespread excitement among the Padhola community at home and in the diaspora, as well as residents of Tororo District and Ugandans at large.
