Africa-Press – Uganda. The Muslim community in Entebbe joyfully marked the end of Ramadan with peaceful Eid al-Fitr prayers, joining the rest of Uganda in observing the public holiday.
Local leaders used the occasion to emphasize the importance of maintaining harmony within families, communities, and the wider society.
Throughout Ramadan, Muslims engaged in deep reflection on values of peace, love, compassion, and unity—principles that were strongly reiterated during the day’s celebrations.
During their prayers, worshippers also called for an end to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and other war-torn regions across the globe, expressing hope for lasting peace worldwide.
Imam Mayanja Muhammad of the Entebbe International Airport Mosque urged the faithful to remain steadfast in their devotion and to uphold the values of Islam.
He cautioned against actions that could tarnish the image of the religion, calling on Muslims to maintain good conduct and avoid individuals who falsely portray religiosity while engaging in wrongful acts.
Meanwhile, Hajji Soma Ayub, Director of Aviation Safety and Security at Entebbe International Airport, warmly hosted members of the Muslim community at his home in Entebbe for Eid celebrations.
He highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan, noting that the fasting period offers an opportunity for reflection on peace and love.
Hajji Soma also led prayers, expressing hope that Allah would bring an end to ongoing conflicts in Arab nations and urging the people of Entebbe to remain united and committed to peace.
The celebrations were marked by a strong sense of community, as participants exchanged “Eid Mubarak” greetings and shared meals in the spirit of brotherhood and togetherness.
