Africa-Press – Uganda. The National Water and Sewerage Corporation has announced supply interruptions following a two-day shutdown of the main plant at Ggaba to enable system upgrades.
A statement issued Monday said the shutdown would affect water supply in the greater Kampala Metropolitan area.
Below is the full statement by NWSC.
Planned Plant Shutdown At Ggaba Water Works
28th December, 2020
The Management of National Water and Sewerage Corporation regrets to inform its valued customers and the general public that there will be interruptions in water supply today Monday 28th and tomorrow 29th December, 2020 from 12am to 6am.
This is due to a 2 day planned system upgrade by UMEME on the power supply line to the Ggaba water treatment.
Subsequently, water production in all treatment plants, pumpage at all booster stations and water supply to the entire Kampala Metropolitan Service Area will be affected during this downtime.
Customers are therefore advised to store water and use it sparingly as it takes time for the system to stabilize after a total plant shutdown.
The exercise is aimed at serving our customers better.
All inconveniences are highly regretted.
