NBS Tv'S Mugabi Re-Elected as Parliamentary Journalists' President

Africa-Press – Uganda. Mr Mugabi secured a decisive win, garnering 69 votes against his rival, Francis Lubega, who managed 32 votes.

NBS TV senior reporter and producer of the Barometer talk show, Sam Ibanda Mugabi, has been re-elected as president of the Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA).

Mr Mugabi secured a decisive win, garnering 69 votes against his rival, Francis Lubega, who managed 32 votes.

The closely watched election saw other candidates for the UPPA presidency fall far behind. Hassif Ssekiwunga obtained four votes, while John Bosco Kisitu received just three votes.

Mr Mugabi will lead the parliamentary journalists for a second and final term of two years starting next week.

In the vice-presidential race, Gloria Gitwabingi from UBC retained her position with 68 votes, defeating Zaina Kabasita, who secured 38 votes.

Other victorious candidates in the elections included Arthur Wadero of Daily Monitor as Secretary General, Hannifa Samula as Organising Secretary, Joweria Namagembe representing radio stations, and Muhammad Wamala as the TV representative.

Joseph Sseruwoza was elected as Whip, and Nickson Baale took the Welfare position.

The re-election of Sam Ibanda Mugabi, known for his political acumen and leadership at NBS TV’s Political Command Centre, has been hailed as a vote of confidence in his stewardship of UPPA.
