Africa-Press – Uganda. The 2025 NCBA Golf Series has officially launched in Uganda, marking the beginning of another thrilling chapter in East Africa’s top amateur golf tournament.

After a grand kickoff in Kenya, attention has now turned to Uganda, where elite golfers will compete across eight prestigious courses ahead of the November grand finale in Nairobi.

This year’s Ugandan leg will span premier venues including Uganda Golf Club, Jinja Golf Club, Entebbe Golf Club, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa, Palm Valley Golf & Country Club, Lugazi Hills and Country Club, and the Mary Louise Simkins Memorial Golf Club in Namulonge.

These scenic and technically challenging courses are set to test both seasoned and up-and-coming talent vying for a place in the regional showdown.

Now in its fifth year, the NCBA Golf Series covers 20 courses across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. Its growing footprint and competitiveness continue to elevate the region’s golfing scene and unearth new talent.

Uganda made significant strides in 2024, with a record 18 golfers qualifying for the finale at Nairobi’s prestigious Muthaiga Golf Club.

Notable qualifiers included Aggrey Mutaka, Judith Mugisha, Brian Omeda, Lillian Koowe, Anselm Olweny, and Berna Musanabera—each securing all-expenses-paid spots after standout performances during national rounds.

“The NCBA Golf Series has become a powerful platform for discovering talent and shaping the future of golf in Uganda,” said Mark Muyobo, CEO of NCBA Uganda.

“Our growing influence in the sport reflects a deeper commitment to youth development, community empowerment, and regional integration.”

Ugandan golfers made their presence felt at last year’s finale: Peter Tumusiime clinched the Gross title, while Peace Kabasweka won the Ladies’ Longest Drive—solidifying Uganda’s reputation among the region’s elite.

The series, launched in 2021, is also celebrated for its inclusive approach to golf development, especially among youth and first-time players.

“At NCBA, golf is more than a sport. It’s a tool for building resilience, discipline, and focus—values we strongly believe in,” Muyobo added.

“Our sponsorship is a long-term investment in human potential.”

Uganda Golf Club Captain Paul Rukundo echoed the enthusiasm, noting the tournament’s growing impact.

“The NCBA Golf Series is instrumental in raising the profile of golf in Uganda. It gives our players the chance to compete at a high level and gain vital exposure. We’re proud to host part of this year’s series and can’t wait to see more Ugandans shine,” Rukundo said.

With momentum building, Uganda’s golfing community is eager to build on last year’s success and secure more podium finishes at the grand finale in Kenya.
