NRM Launches Parish-To-Parish Vote Strategy in Tororo

Africa-Press – Uganda. Nyamulinde ‘A’ Village, Nyemera Parish in Iyolwa Subcounty, West Budama South, Tororo District, was painted yellow on Wednesday afternoon as the NRM officially launched its parish-to-parish vote hunt strategy for all party flag bearers, beginning with President Yoweri Museveni.

Under the new mobilisation approach, 63 NRM leaders per zone, fully facilitated by the party, have been tasked with identifying and persuading between three to five voters each to support President Museveni and all NRM parliamentary flag bearers ahead of the January 15, 2026 general elections.

According to Owor Charles, Tororo District NRM Spokesperson and Coordinator for the Office of the National Chairman, the strategy, if executed properly, will deliver a landslide victory for the party—even in areas where it previously performed poorly.

“I implore all task forces at all levels to rally support for the President and all our flag bearers. You will be facilitated, but we also need results. I am disturbed that some of you have joined hands with independents and opposition candidates to undermine our official candidates. We are watching you,” Owor warned.

He further appealed to NRM members in Iyolwa to stop ring-fencing votes for candidates based solely on locality.”This habit of insisting on an Iyolwa-born candidate will take you nowhere. Let us support Okecho George from Osia Subcounty so that the entire constituency benefits from balanced leadership,” he said.

Owere Richard Machika, Tororo District NRM Secretary and flag bearer for West Budama North-East, told supporters that the only way to maximize government benefits is by voting overwhelmingly for President Museveni and all NRM candidates.

He expressed confidence that Tororo has the capacity to deliver an extraordinary victory if members work as a team.

Akello Mary Gloria, the District NRM Youth Chairperson, encouraged young people to entrust President Museveni with the country’s leadership, saying he remains key to their future opportunities.

Minister for Defence and Veterans Affairs, Jacob Oboth Oboth, who also serves as NRM Treasurer for Tororo, urged residents of West Budama South to deliver over 90% of the vote for President Museveni in appreciation for granting them Mulanda District.

The Minister also brought relief to victims of the Alice Lakwena insurgency, announcing that President Museveni has directed compensation for all those who lost property.

“It is true the President instructed the Prime Minister and Cabinet to handle compensation. The process stalled because the numbers were exaggerated, but verification has been done, though not fully concluded. Government is considering various options, including giving cattle, as is being done in Teso. Many were affected—not only in Tororo, but also in parts of Bukedi such as Pallisa and Butebo. I ask victims to remain patient,” he explained.

The launch marks a renewed and intensified mobilisation effort by NRM in the Bukedi region, with party leaders expressing confidence that the parish-to-parish strategy will consolidate support and secure a strong win in the upcoming elections.
