PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNSNational Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi ramped up his campaign on Wednesday, starting off with a rally at Kirume Public Primary School in Mubende district in central Uganda, before continuing to Mityana and Butambala districts.Momentum continues to build as the campaigns cruise into the home straight with, barely three weeks to the January 14, 2021 elections.Kyagulanyi, one of the nine first-time presidential contestants in this 11-strong race, remains confident he will win the presidential vote.Meanwhile, the latest opinion poll by New Vision has placed him in second position (24.8%) behind the incumbent, President Yoweri Museveni of the NRM (64.8%), writes David Lumu.The opinion poll, conducted by Vision Group’s research team between November 2 and November 14, covered 5,679 respondents in 45 districts.Seventy-four percent (74%) of the respondents sampled live in rural areas while 26% are urban dwellers.The objective of the survey was to gauge the public’s perceptions and preferences about the political climate and the general pulse ahead of next year’s vote.At least over 90% of the 5,679 respondents sampled said they are ready to vote on January 14.(Details of this opinion poll are in today’s edition of the New Vision, whose electronic version you can access here 👉🏽 https://bit.ly/342gSwT )For now, take a look at pictures from Kyagulanyi’s campaign on Wednesday:______________________Addressing his first rally of the day at Kirume Public Primary School in Mubende, Kyagulanyi promised to, among other things, solve the problem of land grabbing in the area.

This supporter of the NUP presidential flagbearer went on his knees and held a poster bearing his image.

Kyagulanyi asked the people of Mubende to vote him to power, saying he is the right man for the top job.

Kyagulanyi, also the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo East, is hoping to beat 10 others in a presidential contest he is taking part in for the first time.

He has urged his supporters to “make sure you go and vote on January 14, 2021”.

Uganda is 22 days away from holding the presidential and parliamentary elections.
