Africa-Press – Uganda. Pader District Woman Member of Parliament Paska Aciro has been nominated by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to contest the upcoming party primaries, signaling her firm embrace of NRM politics after initially entering Parliament as an independent.
The nomination ceremony took place amid cheers from supporters who traveled from Pader to Kampala after Aciro fulfilled all the requirements set by the NRM Electoral Commission.
The nomination was officiated by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairman, Tanga Odoi.
Since winning the Woman MP seat in the 2026 general elections, Aciro has actively engaged with the NRM party, participating in caucuses, retreats, and backing key party motions—marking a shift from her independent status when first elected.
Speaking after her nomination, Aciro expressed gratitude to God for the leadership role and reiterated her commitment to the people of Pader.
She highlighted her accomplishments over the past five years, including efforts to educate children with employable skills, support persons with disabilities, and empower women entrepreneurs.
“I want to thank God for this leadership position. Over these five years, we have been able to educate children with employable skills, take care of persons with disabilities, support women enterprises, and more. We shall do even more in the next term once elected again,” Aciro said.
She urged the people of Pader to entrust her with their votes again, promising to continue working hard to complete the development projects she began.
In 2026, Aciro, a newcomer to politics at the time, defeated incumbent Lowila Oketayot of NRM, independent candidate Adong Vick, and Forum for Democratic Change’s Lakot Christine, garnering over 20,000 votes to claim the Woman MP seat.
