The Uganda Police Force on Saturday (January 2, 2021) refuted false propaganda of photographs of alleged torture, spread on social media of two suspects Edward Ssebuufu alias Eddie Mutwe and Ali Buken alias Nubian Lee, who are in their police custody in Masaka.

“We believe the accounts of torture are fabricated to taint the image of the forces and also capture media headlines,” Police Spokesman Fred Enanga noted.Police shared the images of the two suspects obtained today while lifting their fingerprints.”It is a lawful procedure undertaken when suspects are being processed for court and future criminal record purposes,” the statement notes.

Police noted that they were committed to observing the rights of all suspects, even when in custody. It also noted that its Cyber Crime unit had taken interest in the FAKE posting and will ensure the culprits are identified and brought to justice.Nubian Li and Eddy Mutwe are among the over 90 suspects who were arrested by police in Kalangala as they restrained National Unity Platform Presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu from addressing a public rally citing Ministry of Health guidelines on covid-19.The suspects are still detained in Masaka.
