Africa-Press – Uganda. PostBank Uganda has attracted significant regional attention following its participation at the 31st National Agricultural Show in Jinja, where it showcased specialized financial solutions designed to boost agricultural productivity.
The week-long exhibition, held under the theme “Technological Innovations Driving Agricultural Wealth”, brought together farmers, agribusiness entrepreneurs, agro-input suppliers, financial institutions, and development partners from across Uganda and beyond.
Notably, the event also attracted a delegation of 10 women farmers from Kenya and another group of three women from Zambia, alongside participants from various Ugandan districts.
PostBank conducted a high-impact financial literacy session, highlighting its agricultural financing products such as the Large-Scale Commercial Farmers Scheme (LSCFS) and Grow Loans, which are designed to enable farmers to expand their output and profitability.
Julius Akais, Supervisor for Agriculture and Partnerships at PostBank Uganda, led the training, engaging 15 rural women farmer group leaders from Uganda, alongside the visiting Kenyan and Zambian delegations. His presentation focused on the bank’s innovative solutions aimed at empowering rural women engaged in informal and group-based farming systems.
During the session, Akais addressed several key areas, including the Farmers Group Lending Model, input financing options, seasonal loan structures, mobile and agency banking services, ESG-focused loan assessments under the Agriculture Credit Facility, and access to partner-funded agricultural finance facilities.
Participants also engaged in a lively question-and-answer session, discussing tailored credit solutions and the bank’s inclusive approach to agricultural lending, with a particular focus on measuring the impact of women’s economic empowerment.
Speaking at the session, Akais said PostBank continues to play a central role in Uganda’s agricultural transformation by supporting rural communities, women-led farming groups, and informal farmer cooperatives.
He emphasized that the agricultural show provides an ideal platform to create more collaboration opportunities with agro-input suppliers, mechanization dealers, irrigation providers, and regulatory bodies such as the Bank of Uganda.
He further stressed PostBank’s commitment to its mission, noting that the bank’s purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans.
He explained that agriculture remains one of the leading sectors of Uganda’s economy, employing nearly 60 percent of the population. Through deliberate efforts to extend financing and bridge the knowledge gap on agribusiness products and services, PostBank enables farmers to unlock the sector’s full potential.
PostBank’s continued participation in the Jinja agricultural show is part of its broader commitment to driving financial inclusion, particularly in rural and farming communities.
The exhibition remains an ideal platform for the bank to deepen its engagement with smallholder farmers, Agri-SMEs, and other agricultural stakeholders, while also showcasing its tailored financial solutions.
This year’s show follows PostBank’s recent recognition at the Bank of Uganda Agriculture Credit Facility (ACF) and Small Business Recovery Fund (SBRF) Awards, where it won five awards and received 11 certificates.
These accolades underscore the bank’s leadership in agricultural financing and its role in advancing Uganda’s broader development agenda.
