Africa-PressUganda. NEW YEAR’S MESSAGE |

Pastor Wilson Bugembe has called upon all Ugandans to remain peaceful as the country moves towards general elections on January 14 this year.”I know that there are so many people who are worried and are anxious over the general elections. People are also scared of the likely violence. But we should expect and pray for peace as a country,” he said.”Elections come and go. No matter which side you support, no matter which Presidential candidate you support, we should all resolve these matters in the ballot box and also be able to accept the choice of whoever will be elected. There is no need for violence,” he explained.

This was part of his message last night, as he ushered people through prayer and thanksgiving; into the new year, at the Worship House in Nansana, Wakiso district. The event held at Church was with no physical attendance, and all people were on television and social media platforms. He added, “This is our country and it will be what we decide to make of it. We should pray to God to keep it safe for the betterment of our lives. There is no need to fight anyone whom you do not agree with politically.”The country will be going to the polls within the next two weeks, to elect several leaders including the Parliamentarians and the President. There have been instances of violence and death of people, related to elections; partly a reason why many political and religious leaders are calling for calm.Pr. Bugembe said that he believes that this new year is the time for people and the nation to be lifted to another level; after 2020 which was marred with the COVID-19 pandemic fight.”This is a new year. We should be hopeful that the Lord will lift us in our lives, relationship, businesses, health, and everything that we do. We need to trust the Lord and pray for the betterment of our lives and the country,” he said.
