Rotary Club of Entebbe Welcomes Asan Kasingye as 39Th President

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Rotary Club of Entebbe has installed Rtd Assistant Inspector General of Police Asan Kasingye as its 39th President, succeeding Rotarian Andrew Ochan.

The vibrant ceremony, held at the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (Entebbe Zoo), was marked by symbolic Rotary traditions.

Presided over by Past District Governor Ken Mugisha, the event highlighted the club’s commitment to growth and impact.

“We must start new clubs and raise over $1,500 (Shs 5,550,000) each for the Rotary Foundation’s polio campaign,” Mugisha urged, encouraging Rotarians to be innovative, seek partnerships, and drive transformation.

In his acceptance speech, Kasingye reflected on his journey with the club. He first joined in 1994 but stepped back to focus on his police duties, only to return in 2023 after retiring from the Uganda Police Force.

Since rejoining, he has served as treasurer and executive secretary.

Kasingye pledged to advance the club’s strategic goals, stating, “We will ensure the club’s long-term financial health, expand service projects, and boost visibility through leadership training and mentorship. Our focus will be on attracting quality new members, chartering new clubs, and implementing impactful projects.”

Kasingye also expressed gratitude to Rotarian and Group CEO Kin Kariisa for his unwavering support, particularly for sponsoring his recent book launch.

“Kariisa covered nearly Shs 80 million for the event—what a man! His support through NBS TV has been transformative,” he said.

Outgoing President Andrew Ochan reflected on the club’s achievements during his 2024–25 tenure, which included global grant projects focused on water, health, and sanitation.

“We’re also collaborating with World Vision on community initiatives. My role as president may have ended, but I remain committed to driving our club forward,” Ochan affirmed.
