In a strong demonstration of service and community partnership, the Rotary Club of Medical Stars together with Rotary and Rotaract clubs of Kigo Seven Lakes Golf, Entebbe Base, Kitende breeze, Muyenga Tankhill, Kansanga and 15 others have teamed up with the National Medical Stores (NMS) to deliver a joint medical camp offering free health services to residents in Central Uganda.
Held at the NMS Grounds in Kajjansi, the outreach attracted 2,100 residents from surrounding areas, many of whom rarely access specialized healthcare.
Services offered included eye screening and free eyeglasses, general medical consultations, dental checkups and treatments, blood tests, as well as cancer screening and treatment support.
Moses Kamabare, the Chief Executive of National Medical Stores, said the partnership was born out of the need to bring healthcare closer to the people.
“We decided to partner with Rotary because of their gesture of service above self. There are many people who have health issues but cannot access medical treatment, so we organized this camp to help address such challenges,” Kamabare said.
For many, the camp was life-changing.
“They checked me, explained my condition, and gave me free medicine and eye glasses. I had no money to go to a hospital. Today I feel hopeful again,” said 68-year-old Sarah Namaganda from Masaka.
Rotary volunteers worked alongside medical professionals, pharmacists, and logistics teams from NMS to ensure the smooth delivery of services throughout the day.
Beyond treatment, the camp also emphasized preventive health education, including management of chronic illnesses, oral hygiene, and awareness of cancer risks.
The initiative underscores Rotary’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian service and complements Uganda’s efforts to improve access to healthcare.
Rotary Club of Medical Stars Charter President, CP Sheilla Nduhukire, said the camp aligned with the principle of serving humanity.
“This was service above self in action. We are grateful to every partner and volunteer who contributed to restoring dignity, health, and hope to thousands,” she added

The camp will now be held twice a year, ensuring continued support to the community.
