Africa-Press – Uganda. Ivan Kikomeko, popularly known as Scorpion Shaba and leader of the Scorpion Gang, has been officially nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest for the position of LC3 Division Councilor in Rubaga.
His nomination was seconded by Rubaga NRM Chairperson Semakula Kamuntu Majambere and celebrated musician Joseph Mayanja, better known as Jose Chameleone.
Kikomeko arrived at the nomination centre flanked by a group of enthusiastic supporters, drawing visible excitement in the area.
Speaking to the media shortly after, Kikomeko pledged to reshape public perceptions of ghetto youth and champion inclusive service delivery.
“I want to change the perspective in which all ghetto youths are seen and make sure public service delivery benefits everyone, regardless of their background,” he said.
Once notorious for his ties to the Scorpion Gang, Kikomeko has in recent years sought to reinvent himself as a community leader, advocating for youth empowerment and social transformation.
His nomination underscores a growing trend of grassroots figures with strong followings moving into mainstream politics, particularly in Kampala’s urban divisions.
The Electoral Commission noted a steady flow of nominations in Rubaga and neighboring divisions as candidates continue to declare their intentions ahead of the local government elections.
