Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has met with the Uganda Cargo Consolidators Association (UCCA) to chart ways of improving trade facilitation through streamlined cargo clearance.

On Friday, September 5, 2025, URA Commissioner General John Rujoki Musinguzi hosted UCCA members at the authority’s headquarters in Nakawa.

Discussions centered on integrating URA and UCCA’s IT systems to allow instant data sharing and faster clearance of consolidated cargo.

“This integration will not only accelerate the clearing process but also enhance transparency and minimize loopholes that fraudulent actors exploit,” said Musinguzi.

The meeting also explored the registration, licensing, and regulation of all cargo consolidators as part of measures to ensure compliance and efficiency.

UCCA Chairperson Kenneth Ayebare welcomed the initiative, commending URA’s digital transformation efforts.

“URA has taken great strides in digitalizing customs clearance. As UCCA, we are committed to embracing similar automation to improve service delivery and trade facilitation,” Ayebare said.

Both parties agreed to continue working closely to strengthen trust and efficiency in Uganda’s cargo handling sector.
