Africa-Press – Uganda. Stanbic Bank Uganda has officially launched the 2025 Stanbic Entebbe Open Golf tournament, promising an exciting blend of competitive golf, elite business networking, and cultural celebration.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from October 5 to 9 at the historic Entebbe Club, one of Uganda’s oldest and most prestigious golf courses.
Now in its third consecutive edition under Stanbic Bank’s title sponsorship, the tournament underscores the bank’s continued commitment to investing in sport, community engagement, and national development in the post-pandemic era.
Rita Apell, Chief Information Officer at Stanbic Bank, said this year’s tournament will be the most memorable yet, thanks to a strategic partnership with the East African Business Summit, which will run parallel to the golf event.
“This year’s tournament unfolds over four action-packed days, culminating in a joint closing dinner at the iconic 19th Hole on Uganda’s Independence Day, October 9th,” Apell said. “The fusion of golf and business networking is a deliberate move to elevate the tournament’s value for players, sponsors, and guests alike.”
The competition will feature three main categories: the Professional Open, the Gross Players Category, and the Subsidiary Category.
In a significant boost to competitiveness, prize money for professionals has been increased from shs40 million to shs50 million, while the amateur prize pool has risen from shs5 million to shs15 million.
Apell emphasized that the enhancements align with the bank’s purpose:
“Uganda is our home; we drive her growth. We believe in creating meaningful, inclusive platforms that advance both individual and national development.”
Jacob Byamukama, Chairperson of the Entebbe Golf Club, praised Stanbic Bank for its unwavering support and long-standing partnership.
“We are honoured to host the Stanbic Entebbe Open once again. This tournament continues to grow in prestige and impact, serving not only as a highlight on our calendar but also as a platform that celebrates Ugandan golf and promotes regional unity,” Byamukama stated.
He added that over 300 players are expected to participate in this year’s tournament, which will feature a more competitive lineup, increased prizes, and the added excitement of business integration through the summit.
“This marks a new chapter for the tournament — wider participation, bigger rewards, and a world-class experience for players and guests alike,” he said.
Isaac Ajiji, Stanbic’s Marketing and Brand Manager, highlighted the role of FlexiPay, the bank’s digital payment platform, in enhancing the event experience.

The entire event will run on seamless, cashless transactions, making the experience more convenient and rewarding for everyone,” Ajiji noted.
