Africa-Press – Uganda. Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic stabbing of four children at the Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program.
Taking to his X platform, Tayebwa described the incident as “very, very disturbing” and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families, school community, and all affected.
“I am deeply saddened by the disturbing incident today at an infants’ school in Ggaba, where four innocent souls were stabbed to death,” Tayebwa wrote.
He also praised security forces for their rapid response, which he said prevented further loss of life among pupils and staff.
“I want to thank the security forces who swiftly responded before more kids lost their lives. With the culprit apprehended, I’m sure justice will be served,” he added.
Tayebwa took the opportunity to remind schools and the public to remain vigilant for the safety of pupils throughout the school calendar.
“My prayer is that we don’t take this as a mere isolated incident but rather a reminder to revise safety measures at our schools. May the souls of the innocent rest in eternal peace,” he wrote.
The deputy speaker’s comments have drawn widespread attention as communities continue to grapple with the aftermath of the tragedy, emphasizing the need for strengthened school security measures nationwide.
