Africa-Press – Uganda. National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretary General Richard Todwong has praised the Chinese government for its continued support to Uganda’s development through key infrastructure projects and capacity-building initiatives.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) at the NRM Headquarters in Kampala, Todwong commended China for its “generous contribution” to Uganda’s growth and the prosperity of its citizens.

“We extended our gratitude to the Communist Party of China for consistently standing with the NRM and the majority of African revolutionary parties, particularly in building their capacities,” Todwong said.

The CPC delegation was led by Ms. Rao Huihua, Director General of the International Liaisons Department. The group is in Uganda to explore ways of enhancing cooperation with the NRM, particularly in the area of human resource development.

Todwong revealed that the two parties discussed a wide range of shared interests and confirmed he has been invited to Beijing for a two-day visit to attend an international conference of political party leaders and continue bilateral discussions.

Describing the visit as “very fruitful,” Todwong said the NRM is committed to strengthening ties with the CPC in the interest of both countries.

The meeting was also attended by senior NRM officials, including Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Rose Namayanja, Deputy National Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuhairwe, Director of External Affairs Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar, NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairman Fred Omach, and Director of Communication Emmanuel Dombo.
