Africa-Press – Uganda. Police Exodus SACCO has been recognised among the top performers in the cooperatives category at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, earning praise for improved accountability and transparency.
Speaking after receiving the award, Senior Commissioner of Police Wilson Omoding, the Chairperson of Police Exodus SACCO, said the recognition reflects major strides made in strengthening governance and service delivery to members.
“This award brings confidence to our members that what we are doing is credible,” Omoding said. “It is not about me. It is about the members of the Police Exodus SACCO and the police management that continues to guide us in policy matters.”
He said the SACCO’s annual reports underwent thorough scrutiny by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), adding that the performance review demonstrated progress in accountability, financial management and community support initiatives.
Omoding acknowledged that the SACCO has faced challenges during its two decades of existence, including low uptake in the early years, management gaps and transparency concerns. However, he noted that reforms and increased understanding among officers have driven growth.
“We have had issues of accountability and management like any other institution, but we have moved a long way,” he said.
“When people saw the benefits of being in the SACCO, our numbers grew, and performance improved.”
Police Exodus SACCO will mark its 20th anniversary next year, and Omoding said the focus now is on ensuring long-term stability.
“We are looking at sustainability. We want to continue serving our members to the best of our ability,” he added.
